The new fire station of the City of Wasserburg am Inn serves not only regular fire brigade operations but also creates synergies far beyond this primary function. It is also used as a training and event venue and is intended to serve as an emergency operations center in the event of a disaster. The new building is being constructed on the former nursery site on Schopperstattweg, which was selected as the optimal location due to its position and potential for future expansion. The property is situated directly adjacent to the bus station and close to the River Inn. The urban planning arrangement of the main and secondary buildings clearly structures the site: the alarm parking area is located to the west, while the spacious training yard lies to the east. This spatial separation keeps emergency routes free of intersections and ensures smooth operations in the event of an alarm.

The main building consists of two full storeys and a technical level beneath the pitched roofs. On the ground floor, in addition to workshops, changing rooms, and storage areas, the vehicle hall is oriented toward the east. The upper floor accommodates training rooms, offices, and common areas. Circulation is provided by two staircases and a barrier-free elevator. A clear distinction is made between public and internal areas. The secondary building houses the wash bay, technical rooms, a cold storage area with exhibition space for a historic fire engine, as well as the distinctive training tower.

Both structures are predominantly constructed in timber, supplemented by reinforced concrete in the tower, the foyer, and selected load-bearing elements. The façades are designed as ventilated timber constructions. The vertical timber cladding consists of painted spruce in the shade “Wasserburg Red.” Different batten widths visually emphasize the functional hierarchy of the storeys. Aluminum elements, folding doors, and a standing seam stainless steel roof covering create a contrast to the timber. The exposed concrete training tower forms a striking architectural accent and marks the site as an identity-defining, modern fire brigade headquarters.
