The compact new construction in the immediate vicinity of the hospital Klinikum Landsberg, provides space for two independent psychiatric facilities under one roof. In this manner, the individuality and privacy of the individual clinics can be safeguarded, while at the same time achieving high economic efficiency by making use of constructional synergies.
The clinics are accommodated in two volumes connected through a central entrance area and enclosing an atrium, the “center” of the building. This presents a common area for people to meet that is both interior and exterior as well as permitting light to enter the corridors and rooms within. Apart from ancillary zones, all rooms are oriented along the outer facade and are supplied with sufficient daylight through large windows.
The overall design of the facade and interiors is dominated by wooden materials and light surfaces, occasionally diversified with restrained color schemes and textile sunshades.
